Run #4 – 2.5 miles without stopping

I ran on a treadmill today.  I decreased the speed and saw how far I could run.  I made it 2.5 miles in 27 minutes ( I did a 3 minute warmup).  Not bad for my fourth attempt. 

I am going to alternate between intervals with rest periods (but I’ll work on running at lower intensity instead of walking), and running at pace for the entire run.  I ran three times this week.  I think I’m going to stick with three runs for now.  Either because I suck at it so much it demands my full attention, or because I don’t have to run as long as I exercise bike – whatever the reason, I think I like running on a treadmill better than the dreaded exercise bike.  My bike miles are gonna suffer though…

    Phil, Sup buddy. I see that you’re trying to beef up the endurance in running. I also understand your pain with spinning classes.

    He’re a couple of suggestions, as I have jsut recently fell in love with running.

    1. Try the ellpicatl, it’s great for building endurance. It got my body used to working for long periods. It’s easier on the jonits too.

    2. I would highly recommend the marathon training method, It’s how I prepared for my 1st 5-K’s.
    You run about 5 times a week and cross train once. Rest another.
    for instance on T-W-TH you would run a 1-2-1 Rest on Friday. then on a Sat-Sun run a 1-2, crosstrain on Monday(spinning, Ellppical, or Swim). Each week you progress a little increasing the mileage.

    Good luck, Running becomes addictive.

    Yeah i’d say cuttin the three minute warm-up and a time 0f 24 mins is pretty good. Right now i just started to run again i’ve gon out maybe four times in the past week today will be five and i’m running one mile. I run it in about eight minutes i think thats pretty good sense i haven’t ran in over eight months. I was running about 2.5 miles about a year ago and i ran it in about 18:20 minutes so i’d say i was on the faster side but i was going for improvement and it was working. Then i got my lidrivers license and started driving and stopped bicycling everywhere. Thats when i lost my endurance so i dont even think i could continue for 2.5 miles so keep at it man my endurance went up just like yours. If running is to hard start out by bicycling for two hours at a good speed for about two-three months then start running. Biking gives your legs a great workout without gettin you as tired i think thats why i did so good because of my bike. So power to you friend and dont lose hope in running or working to lose weight/fat, or for a good endurance
