2007 Resolutions – Week 6 Results

February 12, 2007

I lost 0.9 pounds this week.  So far I’m down 11.2 pounds for the year and 27.1 pounds overall.

I finally missed a day this year, after exercising 40 days in a row.  I was starting to feel overtrained – basically irritable and always tired.  So I took a day off.  I am now going to take off every Friday.

For eating, I focused on not eating 2 hours before bedtime.  I think this is why I lost weight this week.  I didn’t eat horribly this week, but I didn’t eat great either.  I was resigned to the fact that I probably wouldn’t lose weight this week because and yet I did just fine.  I will continue making not eating late a priority.

I worked out hard on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday; then did very little the rest of the week.  I just didn’t feel like it.  Hopefully I will now be rested and ready to work hard this week.

Here is how I did in week 6 against my goals:

  • For Weight loss:  My goal is to get under 200 pounds (or 10% bodyfat).  On a weekly basis,  I am targeting 1 pound a week.
    • I lost 0.9 pounds this week
    • My weight is now to 227.9 pounds (started the year at 239.1)
    • I have lost 11.2 pounds year to date
    • In total, I have now lost 27.1 pounds (from 255 lbs)
  • For Miles cycled:  My goal is 4,000 miles which equates to 80 per week.
    • I cycled 40 miles this week
    • I have cycled 355 miles year to date
  • For Hours exercised:  My goal is 300 hours, which equates to 6 hours per week.
    • I exercised 5.75 hours this week
    • I have exercise 39.25 hours year to date
    • I worked out every day this week
    • I worked out 6 times this week:
      • 2x cycling - 2 hrs
      • 1x weight lifting - 1.5 hrs
      • 0x running - 0 hrs
      • 3x walking - 2.25 hrs
  • For Blood Pressure:  My goal is to be at or below 120/80.
    • My BP was 145/85
    • Last week was 150/80.

How are you feeling after a day off?

I have been taking it easy for a few days now – doing nothing more than brisk walking. I’m starting to feel better. My daughter caught the flu, so maybe I have had a touch of something else going on as well. I still don’t feel 100%, but it’s improving.

I missed out on spin class yesterday, so I really won’t be able to test myself until Wednesday. Looking forward to it.

Good job Phil! I love the way to track everything. The fact is most people don’t track at all. I feel that what is measured, will improve. I like your idea about taking a day off on Friday. Your body needs time to heal. As long as you are keeping your caloric intake in check, you will continue to lose. Keep up the good work. You are an inspiration for others.

I have a great (free) resource for those who are highly motivated like Phil. Visit fitness newsletter to receive a fitness program building course, and helpful bi-weekly multimedia newsletters.

Keep up the great work Phil! You are on the right track with at least 1 day off each week.
