Passed by Zappoman

January 24, 2007

I spoke with Zappoman and he has officially passed me in cycling miles for the year.  Like any good cyclist, I will now suck his wheel as long as I can before he pulls away and leaves me wondering who was that masked man…

At least I held him off for three weeks.

    Hi Phil -
Reading this and your previous post about the 2007 bike tour, could you beat ZappoMan on the altitude you cycle? He may have you on the flat, but can you be King of The Mountains?

Failing that, post him a nugget of Kryptonite to level the playing field!

    Karl.

That’s a good question. I bet I have a shot at him if we count total accumulated elevation for a year. I’ll ask him. We also need to factor in that I weigh almost 100 pounds more than him. I should get some sort of factoring for my miles – shouldn’t I?

Let’s see, here’s what my computer says for total ascent so far this year… 8279ft. I think all of Phil’s miles so far have been indoors, so I think his ascent is 0ft.

Sure he’s been to spin class, and I’m sure they’ve cranked the resistance and done a simulated “heavy hill”, but I don’t think you can call that elevation gain. ;)

Phil, you still on for Chilly Hilly? You’ll probably get 3,000 ft on that ride… but since I plan to ride it too, you won’t gain on me. ;)

You definately have me so far this year on elevation. Wait until commuting season – I get 2,800 feet of elevation per ride to work and back and you get whatever your stairs are to the basement. You’re gonna need a lot of cups of coffee to accumulate the feet…

Yes – I am still on for Chilly Hilly. In fact, it’s down to a month and a day. I guess I better head outside soon.
