2007 Resolutions – Week 3 Results

January 23, 2007

I lost 0.5 pounds this week.  So far I’m down 8.5 pounds for the year and 24.5 pounds overall.  I worked out every day, but I only did four days of aerobics this week because of a weird schedule.

For fueling my body – I have quit focusing on calories and I am instead focusing on eating well (and often).  This is the coaching I recevied about my dietary habits – ie focus on how you are going to eat the rest of your life.   I feel that I am doing good in this regard.  I could be more strict, but I know I can eat like I’m eating for the rest of my life.  Biggest changes so far are oatmeal in the morning (good for blood pressure and weight), portion control, and not eating out so much.  I believe the coaching was “Quit eating out”, but I’m doing better…

For exercise, I got in my daily workouts, but I only got in four days of aerobics.  This was due to a crazy schedule as much as anything.  I will get back to a minimum of five aerobic workouts a week.  My coach would even prefer six, but we are going to target five for now to accomodate my lifting schedule.  As summer approaches and I am cycling outside for much longer periods of time, I will have to adjust anyway.

Here is how I did in week 3 against my goals:

  • For Weight loss:  My goal is to get under 200 pounds (or 10% bodyfat).  On a weekly basis,  I am targeting 1 pound a week.
    • I lost 0.5 pounds this week
    • My weight is now to 230.6 pounds (started the year at 239.1)
    • I have lost 8.5 pounds year to date
    • In total, I have now lost 24.5 pounds (from 255 lbs)
  • For Miles cycled:  My goal is 4,000 miles which equates to 80 per week.
    • I cycled 50 miles this week
    • I have cycled 220 miles year to date
  • For Hours exercised:  My goal is 300 hours, which equates to 6 hours per week.
    • I exercised 7 hours this week
    • I have exercise 20.5 hours year to date
    • I worked out every day this week
    • I have worked out every day this year (21 days in a row)
    • I worked out 8 times this week:
      • 3x cycling - 2.5 hrs
      • 3x weight lifting – 3 hrs
      • 1x running – 0.5 hrs
      • 1x volleyball – 1.00 hrs
  • For Blood Pressure:  My goal is to be at or below 120/80.
    • My BP was 140/85
    • Last week was 138/85.
