2007 Resolutions – Week 2 Results

January 15, 2007

Here is how I did in week 2 against my goals:

  • For Weight loss:  My goal is to get under 200 pounds (or 10% bodyfat).  On a weekly basis,  I am targeting 1 pound a week.
    • I lost 2 pounds this week
    • My weight is now to 231.1 pounds (started the year at 239.1)
    • I have lost 8 pounds year to date
    • In total, I have now lost 24 pounds (from 255 lbs)
  • For Miles cycled:  My goal is 4,000 miles which equates to 80 per week.
    • I cycled 70 miles this week
    • I have cycled 170 miles year to date
  • For Hours exercised:  My goal is 300 hours, which equates to 6 hours per week.
    • I exercised 5 hours this week
    • I have exercise 13.5 hours year to date
    • I worked out every day this week
    • I have worked out every day this year (14 days in a row)
    • I worked out 7 times this week:
      • 5x cycling – 3 hrs
      • 1x weight lifting – 0.75 hrs
      • 1x volleyball – 1.25 hrs
  • For Blood Pressure:  My goal is to be at or below 120/80.
    • My BP was 138/85
    • Last week was 136/93

My game plan for the week was to hit my rhythm.  I was very tired from last week – both from the workouts and from my work.  I wanted an easier week, but I didn’t want to give up the daily habits I’ve been practicing.

For calories – I targeted 2,200 per day.  I ended up not counting calories this week, but I did eat healthy all week.  I moved the number of meals I ate per day up from three to five, but didn’t eat any more on any one meal.  I didn’t feel hungry all the time this week.  There were times I wanted to eat more – especially late I night – and didn’t because I knew I’d already eaten enough.  Those were the only times I felt hungry.

For exercise, I wanted a much easier week.  I knew if I kept working out at the pace I did the first week that I risked burning out, so I intentionally took it easier, both in volume and in intensity.  It worked.  I went into the week feeling very tired, and I now feel much better.  Isn’t recovery wonderful…

Overall, I am again very happy with my results.  It’s now on to week three.  I haven’t given much thought yet to what my game plan will be for the week.  I know I have another really busy week at work, so I probably will continue to keep it reined in a bit.  I’ve gotten a lot of coaching on dietary and exercise habits – but I still need time to digest the information.  I will share with you once I get it sorted out.

Thanks for all your support.  Knowing that you are checking up on me not only keeps me accountable for my progress, it also keeps me accountable for living life full out.

Congrats Phil! You are off to an awesome start!

You’re also still way ahead of me on cycle miles… I only have 148.2. But I won’t stop riding my single speed/fixed wheel. You can’t make me.

I am seriously considering riding it on Chilly Hilly… Soy muy loco!

I’m not sure I would call 22 miles “way ahead”, but hey, I’m glad I held you off for at least 2 weeks.

If you use your fixed wheel bike at chilly hilly, maybe I’ll only come in an hour behind you…

I need to start doing this. I may have to steal your plan.
